Vegetable Gardens

Mom always said, eat your veggies. Somehow they always seem to taste better when they are fresh-picked, served moments after harvest. We know how important it is to eat healthy and stay active, and growing your own vegetables gives you the satisfaction of knowing exactly where your food is coming from! We will thoughtfully select the vegetables that best suit your family’s likes and needs. Your bounty can be enjoyed long into the fall!

We build gardens with enduring perspective. By practicing companion planting, “no dig” and implementing aspects of permaculture with an aesthetically pleasing design – we are able to bring our passion to any style of garden. There are endless types of gardens from a classic fenced-in rectangular garden (needed when there is pressure from deer or rabbits), to free-form shaped gardens, similar to what you see with contemporary landscaping and hardscapes. At Home Farm – we like to design creatively – and educate creatively. Each garden is unique and is custom designed and built with the homeowner and family in mind.  Due to the customization of each garden, pricing is determined by the job. Flower Gardens

Having traveled through Holland, I distinctly recall the stunning beauty of the spring tulips in bloom. Locally, perhaps you have taken a stroll through the rose gardens in Delaware Park. We can bring that same beauty to your yard through simple yet stunning flower beds, using a thoughtful combination of seasonal flowers that will fit with your yard’s sun and shade, giving your yard 3 seasons of color and curb appeal.

We always plant flowers with our veggie gardens, but if you just want to color up your space and improve your curb appeal, we got you covered. Container Gardens

Hosting a party, or just want to make your patio look like the botanical gardens? Me too. We have created luscious container gardens sure to impress. Your gorgeous patio pots will look like works of art, filled with flowers and foliage that can be changed with the seasons. Worried about whether your yard is too small for a garden bed? This might be the perfect solution for you! True story – one of my most recent potted tomato plants stood 16 feet tall!

Discovery Gardens

We didn’t forget about our youngest gardeners in training!  How many of you remember way back in elementary school, when your teacher gave you a seed, wet paper towel and plastic bag, then sent you home to plant your project and watch it grow?  Maybe it was from those experiences that you discovered a love for gardening yourself.

Discovery gardens can be any size, but the classic 4 feet by 4 feet is perfect for engaging children, teaching them how to plant seeds and care for the plants as they grow. These gardens utilize larger seeds (easy for little hands to hold) like cucumbers, squash, peas and beans, just to name a few. Flowers are the perfect compliment to these veggies. Pssst… these gardens aren’t just for kids!

Maintenance Services

Not sure what’s happening to the cukes? What are all those bugs on the tomatoes!? No problem. We can visit on a schedule or as needed to trim, feed, treat, and handle any matters that normally arise when gardening. We use only natural and organic fertilizers and foliar sprays to feed the soil and plants; and natural (non-hazardous) pest control products.

The maintenance services we offer include manually servicing a garden space or educating homeowners, one on one, on how to deal with the challenges of growing their own food successfully.

This is probably my favorite thing to do for clients: coming to a garden, trimming and pruning tomato and vegetable plants and herbs, leaving a basket of fresh-picked food, and fresh-cut herbs and flowers by the door. Cleaning up the beds and edging to keep the garden looking dynamic, solving any pest or disease issues – the fun part is knowing what to do and using all the knowledge I’ve acquired over the years.

Moreover, meeting with homeowners who share my passion for gardening and really just learning – you will find me very willing to share all I know to help solve problems, create solutions and make your garden look tremendous!

Maintenance services vary in degree and are based on your space, needs and time. Please email us for a free estimate!
